kelsey + tom :: winter wonderland maternity session

i have been throughly enjoying my rest and time off this winter but on that same note … was so excited to get outside and shoot my first session of 2012. We were hoping for some snow and with the way our winter started out … I almost lost all hope. And then of course, a few days after the ground had been bare for too long, we get hammered with some snow. First thought, ohhh kelsey and tom’s session will be a winter wonderland! Second thought, ohhh snowmobiling! Today I write from my office with a candle burning next to me and the grass peaking through in our yard, and honestly … I want that winter wonderland back RIGHT NOW. It looks so gross out today and I prefer it either to be super hot and sunny or full blown winter, cold and snowy. Lots of snow. So for now, I’m going to enjoy these photos and remember how beautiful it was out that day for our session. How much fun we had freezing our butts off and laughing at our shirts getting drenched from snow flakes and how I was more of a panzy than the pregnant girl. [my fingers were chilly]

Kelsey and I graduated together and so glad we’ve been able to see eachother here and there to catch up. Super sweet and down to earth and most of all, genuine. We ended up going to a few different locations but the ‘winter wonderland’ location was by far, my fave. It was hard to pick which ones to share but I finally narrowed it down for you and thought what a fine way to start my week. [yes i enjoyed a long weekend].

No doubt about it, they will be amazing parents. I absolutely LOVE that they waited to find out the sex of the baby and also not to share their names! Only so many surprises in life these days and I can’t wait to hear if they had a boy or a girl and what the name is! Kelsey brought letters of the names but I didn’t even ask what they were because i appreciate secrets. Kelsey is CLEARLY glowing and pregnancy is treating her good. She doesn’t even look pregnant from certain angles until you see that perfect basketball bump when she turns to the side. I felt like I had photographed them before after shooting maternity photos for Tom’s brother and sister in law Jenn and JJ … another super cute couple [they're whole family is adorable]. So I think this is a great time for me to cast my vote … for so long, I had a winning streak but lately, i have been not doing so hot with my guessing. My guess for what its worth, boy. We shall see if I’m right :)

My hope for these photos is that they help you remember and that they document this amazing and exciting time in your lives. You are only pregnant so many times in your life and never will be back to this feeling where your about to be parents for the very first time with nervousness and excitement all bundled up and ready to meet your little one. Congrats you two! Couldn’t be happier for you!

p.s. something is in the water, be careful. i am currently sticking to latte’s and juice. ;)

xoxo
